Our Libraries
We’re bringing the power of literacy to remote and rural schools in Nepal by building libraries. Help us open more libraries!
ECC Libraries
Since 2020, ECC has opened 5 libraries with 2 more on the way in 2023.
The schools we work in
don’t have access to any books or resources, much less a library.
Each library we open is in a
new partner school, allowing more students access to this resource.
Building Literacy Skills
In low-income countries, it is estimated that 1 out of 3 kids enrolled in school cannot read at
grade level.
This is especially true in Nepal, where we find literacy rates in 4 th and 5 th grade at only about 50%.
Building basic literacy skills early on will change the future of education for these students!

Library Class
Our libraries offer free classes to students every day. We hire someone from the local
community to be our librarian, which provides employment opportunities in this remote and
rural area.
Daily, each grade comes to the library for one hour of library class. In class they can build literacy skills through reading, writing, listening to stories, and doing other creative literacy activities.
Not only do they get access to hundreds of books they would otherwise never have seen, but they also get one hour of interactive and engaging education with the librarian.

LOVE for Books
This is having a huge impact on student’s literacy skills. And our students LOVE their books.
